Word Play with Callaway is a celebration of language, the ultimate filter of our perception of the world.  If you can’t put it into words, for all anyone can be made to understand, it doesn’t exist!  The world of poetry and art, however, remain able to point to the ineffable … and amazingly–we all know it–there is something shared out there, beyond language.  Something we all recognize that we have in common, even if we can’t describe it to each other with words.

This is the thrill of language and language arts:  it is the edge, the frontier … of the mind, of thought, of what it is to be human … even, of the very fabric of reality!

But language itself is just a set of containers.  The excitement of the limits of what it can possibly contain demonstrates the infinite potential complexity of thought that can be expressed.  Masters of this art, even within the limits of the perceivable and describable world, have a power over the hearts and minds of the rest of us that we are scarcely aware of, when they ply their craft.

This can be a source of great beauty, a purveyor of great truth, AND a vehicle for great wickedness.
